And Doomtown Reloaded and Red7 are on my list, too. It's so hard to keep up with all the new games while still trying to catch up playing older games for the first time (hell, I just played Settlers of Catan for the very first time last year!), in addition to just playing games I own and or like! And you seriously need to play King of New York if you liked KoT at all. Lots more to destroy!

Re: Best Week of the Year

Such a great post. As I have delved into the new world of board games over the last two years, and amassed a small collection of great games, my biggest problem is almost never having the opportunity to play them with the exception of one weekly meetup. Hoping to expand my network of gamers in the new year for more gaming sessions and the chance to introduce more people to all of these games, and try more new ones!

Re: Best Week of the Year

Ah ha, Merry Christmas to one of the awesome support staff!

Re: Best Week of the Year

Well said!! We've played a whole shelf-worth of games in the past two days, from a Martin Wallace to an old kid's game, and the friends and family around the table made each one wonderful. Merry Christmas!!

C. As much as I try to get people to play older games I get a lot of pushback because it's not the latest greatest thing, even if they've never played it before.

For your other question, a lot of the time it's scarcity that makes it popular, but I think that applies to games that appeal to collectors (especially of CCGs) than the mainstream gaming public. I continue to say El Grande being out of print is the biggest tragedy in gaming. It remains in my top 5 favorite games.

Re: The Big 4

Great write up!
